INTRODUCTION

PROFASI 2000IU INJECTION contains Chorionic Gonadotropin which belongs to the group of medicines called Gonadotropins. It is used to treat hypogonadism (deficiency of sex hormones) in men. It also helps in the release of matured ovum (eggs) from the ovaries (ovulation) among infertile women after undergoing pretreatment with suitable hormonal medicines (such as menotropins or FSH).

It also helps in sustaining pregnancy during the early stages among women who experience habitual abortions. It can also be used in the treatment of prepubertal cryptorchidism (failure of testis to descend into the scrotum) caused due to hormone deficiency in young male children (aged between 4-9 years).

During treatment with PROFASI 2000IU INJECTION, your doctor would monitor your health condition through several blood test and ultrasound to avoid the risk of side effects like fluid accumulation, abnormally enlarged ovarian follicles or multiple pregnancies (pregnant with more than one child), especially if you are undergoing assisted reproductive techniques.

Before receiving PROFASI 2000IU INJECTION inform your doctor if you have any forms of cancer in the ovaries, uterus, breasts, or prostate. You must also inform your doctor if you have any damage in the fallopian tubes, as treatment with PROFASI 2000IU INJECTION may cause ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy outside of the womb) in such cases.

PROFASI 2000IU INJECTION may cause false positive pregnant result in women who take pregnancy test using their blood or urine. This effect may last up to 10 days even after discontinuing treatment with PROFASI 2000IU INJECTION.

PROFASI 2000IU INJECTION may be used to sustain pregnancy during the initial stages (luteal phase). However, it should not be used on the later stages of pregnancy. Therefore, consult your doctor for advice. It is also not recommended for use in breastfeeding women.

The most common side effects of PROFASI 2000IU INJECTION are reaching puberty at an early age, pain at the injection site, headache and irritability. Consult your doctor if they worsen.

USES OF PROFASI 2000IU INJECTION

Induces ovulation among infertile women
Supports pregnancy among women who experience habitual abortions
HOW PROFASI 2000IU INJECTION WORKS

PROFASI 2000IU INJECTION is a gonadotrophic hormone which stimulates the production of sex hormones in both men and women. In men, it acts by stimulating the release of androgens which are responsible for the development of secondary sexual characteristics and for regulating the onset of puberty. It also helps to move down the testicles into the scrotum in children having undescended testis.

In women, it triggers the release of matured egg from the ovaries and helps to sustain pregnancy by supplementing enough female sex hormones (estrogen and progesterone) which are required for maintaining a successful conception.
