INTRODUCTION
ALEX L contains Levocloperastine which belongs to a group of medicines called antitussives agents. It is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of cough associated with acute and chronic respiratory disorders. Always take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your physician.
Levocloperastine is a cough suppressant, acts at the CNS level by inhibiting the bulbar cough centre. In addition to this primary mechanism of action, peripheral effects related to its antihistamine, antiserotonergic and smooth muscle-relaxant properties also contribute to the overall efficacy of levocloperastine in the treatment of cough, bronchospasm and related symptoms.
Before taking ALEX L tell your doctor about your complete medical history including heart-problems, epilepsy, high blood pressure, liver impairment, and kidney malfunction. Pregnant and breastfeeding women consult the doctor before taking this medicine. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment. The common side effects are nausea, headache, dizziness or sleepiness.

HOW ALEX L WORKS
ALEX L is a cough suppressant that acts on the central nervous system and suppresses cough by reducing the activity of cough centre in the brain.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take ALEX L as prescribed by the doctor. Shake well before use. Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depending on age, body weight and health condition. Check the label for directions before use.

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea:
Eat routine meals and do not eat spicy foods.
Dizziness:
Sit or lie down immediately when you feel dizziness. Lie still with eyes closed in a dark room.
Headache:
Rest and drink plenty of fluids. Apply a wet or cold cloth to forehead and rest in a quiet, comfortable, dark room.

ALLERGY

HEART DISEASE
ALEX L should be used with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease. Consult your doctor for advice.
OTHERS
Tell your doctor if you,
Have hypertension
Have uncontrolled diabetes mellitus
Have hyperthyroidism
Have seizures
Are hypersensitive to sympathomimetic amines
Use in pediatrics:
Due to lack of studies in between 0 and 2 years, ALEX L it is not recommended for use in early childhood. Consult your doctor for advice.
INTERACTIONS
A. Drug – Drug interactions:
Inform your physician if you are taking,
Sedatives or tranquilizers (used to treat states of mental disturbance)
Antihistamine medicines (used to relieve symptoms of allergies)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of this medicine, consult your doctor immediately. Overdosage can be treated symptomatically and with institute supportive measures as required. Gastric lavage may be done to remove the excess drug from the stomach.
