INTRODUCTION

AFITRA CREAM contains Itraconazole which belongs to the group of medicines called Antifungals. It is used to treat primarily fungal infections which includes infections of the mouth, fingernails, vagina and toenails in affected individuals.

Any infection caused by a fungus that leads to infection associated with symptoms such as itching and irritation in vagina and vulva, white patches on the inner cheeks, tongue, roof of the mouth or throat and irritation, redness or itching of the skin in affected individuals.

AFITRA CREAM is not recommended for use in patients who are allergic to Itraconazole. It is also not recommended for use in pregnant women unless it is clearly advised by the doctor and it is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women.

AFITRA CREAM should be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years) since the medicine is known to be associated with a range of potential drug interactions. Consult your child’s doctor for advice.

The most common side effects of applying AFITRA CREAM are common cold, nausea, blurred vision, tiredness and headache. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects worsen.

HOW AFITRA CREAM WORKS

AFITRA CREAM works by inhibiting ergosterol synthesis (an organic compound responsible for maintaining cell membrane integrity of fungi cell) that leads to fungal cell membrane abnormalities (marked with increased permeability and disruption of fungi cell) thus causing destruction to the fungi cell and preventing the occurrence of fungal infections in affected individuals.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Apply AFITRA CREAM as directed by your doctor. It is for external use only. Wash your hands before and after use to ensure hygiene is maintained. Apply a thin layer of this medicine in the affected site. Avoid contact of this medicine in your eyes, ears and nose.

Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

RARE

Stop using AFITRA CREAM and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:   

Have signs of allergic reactions (such as runny nose, sneezing, itchy skin, swelling of the lips, mouth or throat)
Experience any signs of nerve discomfort (such as numbness or tingling sensation in feet and hands, loss of balance or throbbing pain)
Experience loss of hearing
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Headache:

Drink ample amount of water and avoid skipping meals. Get adequate rest. Try to be relaxed and stress free. Apply pain relieving balm on your forehead if necessary. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.   

Nausea:

Stick to simple meals while taking this medicine. Avoid eating oily rich, fried or spicy foods. Do not lie down or sleep immediately after eating. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.     

Tiredness:

Take rest, drink plenty of fluids and eat balanced diet. Avoid or limit the consumption of alcohol. Try to take AFITRA CREAM at a time when you can sit down (or lie down) when the symptoms are at their worst. Avoid driving or using tools or machinery until you feel well. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS
PREGNANCY

AFITRA CREAM is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless it is considered clearly necessary. Women with childbearing potential should use contraceptives to avoid getting pregnant while on treatment with AFITRA CREAM. Consult your doctor before applying the medicine.    

BREASTFEEDING

AFITRA CREAM is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless it is considered clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before applying the medicine.  

ALLERGY

Do not use AFITRA CREAM if you are allergic to Itraconazole or any other ingredients of this medicine.

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Before using AFITRA CREAM, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:                         

Antacids (used to relieve indigestion and heartburn) Ex. aluminum hydroxide, magnesium carbonate

Over dosage:

If you or anyone else applies too much of AFITRA CREAM or accidentally ingest it, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
